It was a tight fit but the Zalman flower heat sink does a superb job of cooling. 53C is the average temperature of the CPU at full load
(I run the cancer research project software 24/7) with ambient around 22C.
At only C$48, the ASRock K7S41GX motherboard is performing very well. It's stable and the 5.1 sound quality is just fine. The 2 onboard
USB headers work with the Coolermaster front USB ports as does the headphone jack.
The Seagate 250GB 7200.8 hard drive is fairly quiet and gives lower temperatures than the 60GB Maxtor I had before. It's also 40% faster
than the Maxtor!
My HTPC is linked to my file server by a US Robotics wireless 802.11G PCI card. I've also got the USR 8054 wireless router which is a
real piece of crap, even with the April 2005 firmware. Random reboots are too frequent, I don't recommend this router.
No complaints for the clear output of the ATI Radeon VE which you can now find for under C$25 ! It's got dual VGA out plus composite and
S-Video.
Overall I'm very happy with this setup. Hopefully it will give me many years of service.
